CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
One person is in police custody Thursday afternoon following a report of a threat made at a South Side elementary school.
Shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday police responded to Schmid Elementary School in the 9700 block of South Greenwood Avenue following a report of a threat, News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
A school administrator had been told that someone at the school had overheard a threat being made by a teacher on Wednesday, Mirabelli said.
Officers set up a perimeter around school and monitored the entrances, checking the IDs of everyone entering the building, eventually taking the male who had made the threat into custody, Mirabelli said.
It was unclear whether the person in custody was a teacher. No one was injured in the incident, police said.
