ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A 12-year-old boy has died after being shot by his 16-year-old brother, according to investigators with the Orlando Police Department.
This shooting happened at 9950 Portofino Dr, in the Nona Crest Subdivision, in Orlando's Lake Nona area.
The boy was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. An initial investigation has led detectives to believe that the shooting was an accident and the teenager will not face any charges.
"Detectives will be meeting at a later date with the State Attorneys Office to discuss the case and decide if there is any negligence," said Orlando Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jim Young. "The family is fully cooperating with the investigation; however, they are requesting privacy."
This is the second time this week that a child has been shot in an accidental shooting. A 4-year-old Pine Hills boy remains in critical condition after finding a gun and shooting himself in the head on Wednesday. Police are still trying to figure out how the child got a hold of a loaded gun.
