CHANDLER, Ariz. -

A new trauma center is slated to open in the southeast valley and it will bring 200 new jobs to the Chandler area.

Construction is now getting underway at Chandler Regional Medical Center.

It will be the first level one trauma center in the east valley.

Many community leaders were on hand for a beam raising ceremony on Friday and signed the beam which will go up at the hospital's new patient tower.

The $125 million building is expected to open in 2014.

"The beam is symbolic of the addition of this hospital.  This is Chandler's original community hospital.  The growth and progress this hospital has made is kind of in line with the growth and progress we've had in our community," said Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny.

The hospital is expecting to hire nurses, doctors and administrators.

The trauma center will be a valuable resource for handling emergencies in the southeast valley.
