CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two cousins, ages 19 and 22, were wounded in a shooting early Saturday in the North Side Rogers Park neighborhood.

The shooting occurred at 3:34 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Jonquil Terrace, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said.

The two cousins were part of a group of people who were standing on the corner when they were about to get into their vehicle, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. At that point a black vehicle drove by northbound on Paulina Street and someone inside opened fire on them, Mirabelli said.

Both men -- the 19-year-old in critical condition and the 22-year-old in serious condition -- were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, police said.

The 22-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the right lower back area, Mirabelli said. The 19-year-old suffered one gunshot wound to the chest, two gunshot wounds to the upper part of his left arm, and two gunshot wounds to his left thigh, Mirabelli said.

No one was in custody and Area North detectives were investigating.
