Troopers question person of interest in Disney intern's hit-and-run death

Posted: Updated:

Troopers are questioning a person of interest in a hit-and-run crash that killed a Walt Disney World intern from Australia.

Mahmoud Arabi, 22, died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle two days earlier as he walked across International Drive at Vineland Avenue. He was in a crosswalk, investigators say.

The Florida Highway Patrol recovered a 1997 Ford sedan they think was involved in the crash and are talking to the owner, who is cooperating with authorities.

"I would just say to the killer, why did you end his life?" Arabi's mother, Nehed, tearfully pleaded at a Sunday news conference.

Charges are still pending in the case. No one has been arrested.
