David Does It: Fat Tire Bike Ride on Cocoa Beach

COCOA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A Cocoa Beach resort offers fitness-minded guests more than just a stroll along the beach.

International Palms Resort invites guests to their Fat Tire Bike Ride and Boot Camp, in which cyclists ride bikes with 4-inch-wide tires on the beach.

"They're designed to ride in the snow. They're Alaska-made," said Mike Slotin, who runs the bike ride. "I thought they'd be good for the soft sand."

Bike-ride tours are offered at 7:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and are open resort guests as well as the public. Group rides of 30 minutes are $15.

"If you want to make this a workout, all you have to do is head to the soft sand, and it can be as tough a challenge as you want," Slotin said.

International Palms Resort is offering a special discount for Fox 35 viewers at David Martin's Twitter feed @Fox35David.
