1 dead in Sanford shooting; police search for gunmen

SANFORD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Just weeks after Sanford authorities formed a task force to help end a rash of shootings, police are searching for two gunmen whom they say shot a man dead Wednesday night.

Members of the task force were the first to respond to the home on 12th Street and Avocado Avenue after receiving multiple 911 calls about shots fired.

When they arrived, they found 33-year-old Marcus Killingsworth bleeding on the front lawn. He died on the way to a hospital, authorities say.

Police are looking for two gunmen whom they say fired multiple rounds at the victim. They don't believe the shooting was random.

The victim's identity has not been released.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Sanford Police or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
