If your bill from Lakeland Electric is late, it may not be coming.
Lakeland Electric says hundreds, possibly thousands of bills may have burned up in a fire a few weeks ago. It involved a mail truck and semi on I-75 in the Wesley Chapel area.
Not so, says the United States Postal Service. The Postal Service says its mail truck was carrying fliers, brochures, and that kind of thing -- not first-class mail like Lakeland Electric bills.
The due dates on the Lakeland Electric bills are April 8 and 9. If you don't pay bill on time, you can expect to get an automatically generated notification and a late fee.
"If you get that late notification and you're in this group, give our customer representatives a call and they'll help you get that taken care of," said Joel Ivy, Lakeland Electric General Manager.
