Brooklyn livery driver fatally shot

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a livery cab driver was shot and killed while driving to pick up a fare.

Carlos Nunez, of Valley Stream, Long Island, was traveling east on Decatur Street in Brooklyn when he was shot around 12:45 a.m. Monday.

Police say he had been responding to a call for a pickup.

But a colleague of Nunez's told the New York Post that Nunez was fatally shot after taking a personal call. He said Nunez asked for a break to meet someone and never returned.

The co-worker said Nunez drove a Lincoln Town Car for work but left in his personal car for the meeting

Nunez was pronounced dead at a hospital.
