Detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant Wednesday at the home of a couple suspected of kidnapping their children.
They waited most of the day to obtain the warrant.
FOX 13's Deborah Bowden reports there are about a dozen detectives at the home.
They are searching the house, an SUV parked in the driveway and a shed in the backyard. A canine unit is also searching the scene.
They brought out a computer and several bags of evidence.
The house is on Sterling Avenue in south Tampa. Records show the house belongs to Joshua Hakken, who investigators say tied up his mother-in-law and kidnapped his two children early Wednesday morning.
Authorities issued an Amber alert for the two children, Cole and Chase Hakken.
Neighbors say they saw they occasionally saw the Hakkens outside with one or both of their children. Some were stunned to see police surrounding the home.
"He was very nice, an attractive man. The little boy was darling." said Stephanie Coates, who lives across the street.
Coates says Joshua Hakken bought an aquarium at her garage sale earlier this year for one of his sons.
Another neighbor says Hakken seemed distracted.
"Something just didn't seem right," says Simon, who didn't want to give his last name.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is working to contact authorities in Georgia and Louisiana to find the children and their parents.
