Thursday's severe weather interfered with the arrival of two tall ships heading into Bradenton for the weekend.
Replica versions of Christopher Columbus' ships the Nina and Pinta were sailing up from Punta Gorda and headed for the Regatta Pointe Marina when the storms moved through.
One of the ships became stranded off Emerson Point.
A representative of the Columbus Foundation, which runs the ships, told FOX 13 that the Nina ran aground briefly but the vessel was able to get free and make it to port.
According to the foundation's website, the ship has a 7-foot draft.
The ships will be in Palmetto until the 14th. Tours are available.
