DETROIT (WJBK) -

The Detroit NAACP has announced that Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi will give the keynote speech at the 58th Annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner.

The organization will also present awards to several distinguished metro Detroiters.

The theme of this year's event is "Freedom Must Never Be Defaulted, It Must Forever Be Exalted!"

"This is directly in line with the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior over 50 years ago, which committed itself to never defaulting on the issue of freedom," a press release from the Detroit NAACP said.

The Fight for Freedom Fund dinner is set for Sunday, April 28th at the new Cobo Convention Center.
