DeLand Police detectives are searching for a gunman responsible for shooting a couple of people at a house party early Sunday morning.
Police said the gunfire erupted at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at a home at 403 South Clara Avenue.
Apparently, the house served as an "after-party" location from a local community fish-fry that took place earlier in the day.
Da'Shayla Woods attended the party and describes the moments when a barrage of bullets started flying.
"It was very chaotic. You can imagine having a gun and bullets don't have a name on it," she said.
Detectives and crime scene investigators spent the overnight and the later part of Sunday searching and collecting evidence from the home. They also interviewed several people who were at the party.
Witnesses told FOX 35's Ray Raimundi a fight started inside the home and spilled onto the street. Those who attended the party are angry the celebration ended in bloodshed.
"It's people like you all, and you all know who I am talking about, that messes it up for everybody in DeLand. And you all put DeLand on the map in the wrong way," Woods said.
The homeowner was on scene but refused to talk on camera about the incident. DeLand Police have not given information on the identities of those who were shot, hurt or killed.
Authorities want anyone with information on the whereabouts of the shooter to call the Crimeline (800) 423-TIPS or the DeLand Police Department.
