WATCH: 7-year-old cancer patient scores a touchdown at Nebraska game

(WJBK) - During a spring scrimmage over the weekend, a seven-year-old brain cancer patient got to fulfill his dream to play with the Nebraska Corn Huskers.

The team was very supportive of Jack Hoffman, who wore a miniature No. 22 Rex Burkhead uniform during the scrimmage. Hoffman competed against men twice his height and more than that in weight. He managed to score a 69-yard touchdown. The game took place at Memorial Stadium, where more than 60,000 Nebraska fans cheered for Hoffman.

Hoffman is currently taking a two-week break from his 60-week chemotherapy course. He said it felt awesome to be out on the field with the team. It was an emotional day for everyone participating in the special play planned for Hoffman.

Hoffman met Nebraska's running back, Rex Burkhead in 2011. Hoffman's dad made a phone call, hoping for an opportunity for his son to have his picture taken with his favorite player, Burkhead. After meeting Hoffman, Burkhead decided he wanted to be with him throughout the journey. Burkhead is the captain of a support network for Hoffman, called "Team Jack."

The Hoffmans found out the day before the scrimmage that Jack would be participating on the field. Football operations director Jeff Jamrog and fullback C.J. Zimmerer came up with the idea to get Jack involved in the spring game.
