New Wiretapping Law Helped Take Down Drug Dealer, DA Says

Posted: Updated:
NORRISTOWN, Pa. -

A massive drug bust has taken down an accused notorious drug dealer in Montgomery County, authorities said Monday.

Officials arrested six people linked to what they call a sophisticated drug trafficking operation.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman says recent legislation allowing wiretap investigations for a specific person is what really made the difference.

"That change in the law was critical for us to be able to go after this person, go after this network and take them down," she said.

From the wiretaps, detectives learned Ryan Gavlick was setting up a five-pound marijuana sale.

Gavlick, his supplier and four others were arrested.

Search warrants of multiple locations found more than 50 pounds of marijuana, tens of thousands of dollars and loaded guns.
