Students upset after vehicles booted at prom

ATLANTA -

A group of metro Atlanta students say their prom was ruined by a local parking company. After exchanging corsages and boutonnieres, the students from Miller Grove High School found their cars had been booted.

Instead of dancing the night away inside the Georgia Freight Depot, the students from Lithonia were stuck trying to figure out how to come up with $75 to get the boots off their cars.

FOX 5 wasn't able to get a comment from the company seen giving the boots on Saturday night, Premier Parking, or the owners of the lot, Elite Parking.

The kids say the gate was open, the arm was all the way up and there was no one in the booth so they assumed parking was free after hours.

Signs in the lot warn drivers to pay or face being towed or given the boot, but teachers said that the students should have been given a warning.

"Most of their prom was spent out here in the parking lot," said a teacher.

Some drivers told FOX 5 on Monday that the signs in the lot were unclear.
