(FOX 11) The Municipal Pier in Hermosa Beach has been closed for 40-days for long needed repairs in order to better accommodate the upcoming summer tourist crowds.
The official closure began Monday, but it seems to be was business as usual for the surrounding restaurants and pubs just feet away from the pier. No businesses operate on the pier itself.
Mayor Patrick "Kit" Bobko reports that the pier "is one of the city's most valued assets, and we want to ensure it is maintained so we can all enjoy it for many years to come."
The anticipated cost for the repairs is around $190,000.
