A pilot has escaped injury after his small plane landed with its landing gear retracted at the Scottsdale Airport.
Authorities say the pilot was the only person aboard the Piper PA24 when it experienced landing-gear problems Thursday afternoon.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the plane landed safely about 12:20 p.m. and the plane sustained minor damage.
The pilot even radio'd to ground control, asking them to tell his wife he loved her in case things didn't end well. But luckily, he walked away unharmed.
Authorities say the airport was closed for several hours for removal of the plane and an investigation of the incident.
