Movie Critic Matt Atchity: 42 Is Really Solid, Go And See It!

Posted: Updated:

Does "42" hit a home run or strike out? Matt Atchity from Rotten Tomatoes says critics think it scores...but doesn't knock it out of the park. For the most part, critics like this movie about Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball and the country. Matt says the lead actors are fine but one actor in particular steals the movie and it's probably not who you think it is. Here's a shocker: Scary Movie 5 wasn't screened for critics but as Steve points out, it won't matter to fans of the franchise.

And if neither of these movies appeal to you, Matt says you may want to consider connecting with "Disconnect". This ensemble drama features Jason Bateman, Hope Davis, and Alexander Skarsgård and shows the dangers of the internet. It has the intersecting characters and storylines like "Crash" and critics say it packs a powerful punch. They say you may think twice about your online habits and activity after seeing this movie.

Atchity is the editor in chief for the pop-culture website "Rotten Tomatoes." He also hosts a new show on Sirius XM called "Rotten Tomatoes Radio."

The weekly one hour call in show airs Tuesdays at 4:00 pm and Thursdays at 3:00 pm.
