Photographer creates pin-up project with a purpose

Posted: Updated:
GENEVA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Call it the pin-up project with a purpose.

A local photographer helped to raise money doing what he does best: photography. He also was able to get some of his friends to help.

One spring weekend, 25 models and dozens of photographers gathered at a bed and breakfast in Geneva to stop time and raise awareness.

The group came together for the area's first annual pin-up photo shoot, organized by Orlando photographer Barry Kersch.

Kersh invited locals to pay to take pictures of modern-day models posing as pin-ups on vintage sets set up all around the Danville Bed and Breakfast.

Proceeds benefited the Raise Your Weapons project, a traveling art exhibit depicting scenes from American wars.  Photographers shot vintage style pin-up girls using authentic props and sets.

All proceeds raised will benefit local VFWs (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and their charities.
