ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

An investigation into a suspicious package forced the evacuation of a tourist-area motel and closed several roads in the area, but the scene has been cleared, Orlando Police say.

Police and fire authorities responded to a Motel 6 at 5909 American Way, near Universal Boulevard and Interstate 4, where a metal suitcase was found unattended, Orlando Police Sgt. Jim Young said. The motel was evacuated.

The roadways that were closed -- American Way, northbound Universal Boulevard at International Drive and the entrance ramp from Interstate 4 onto Universal Boulevard -- are being reopened, Young said.
