ATLANTA -

Runners in metro Atlanta are determined to keep going despite Monday's deadly bombing at the Boston Marathon.  Race organizers say the attack won't deter them.

Tes Sobomehin is the race director and founder of the RunningNerds 5K, which happens this Saturday.  She says her message to race participants is that they will run.  In fact, she says she never considered calling the race off.

Instead, they'll have a special tribute for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

"Each runner will be given a blue or yellow swatch to wear on their race bib," she explained.  "And then we're also going have a banner that all of our participants, volunteers, spectators can sign. And we're going to send that to Boston."

As far as security goes, an off-duty Atlanta police officer will be posted at every intersection along the race route, just like last year.

"They're doing everything they can to help us keep living our lives," said Melissa Frantz, who is running the race.  "We can't stop living our lives out of fear."

Across town at Fleet Foot, DeShawn Wells was busy getting fitted for a new pair of running shoes.  Wells coaches the Sandy Springs Striders youth track and field program.  He says he thinks runners are more determined now than ever.

"We might actually have more runners now-- more people volunteering, more people actually just want to get out there just to experience the run, just to see the finish line coming up toward them," Wells said.

According to Active.com, there are seven races taking place in metro Atlanta this Saturday, and four of them will happen inside the city limits.
