I-Team examines exclusive Boston Marathon bomb photos

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

While federal agents pour over the videos with hopes of finding the bomber, they still have the painstaking job of reconstructing the deadly bombs.

Within hours of the deadly bomb blast, federal agents scoured the scene in a methodical, systematic, grid-by-grid search for evidence.  In crime scene pictures obtained by the FOX 5 I-Team, you can see remnants of a stainless steel cooking pot that agents quickly identified as a pressure cooker.

Senior I-Team reporter Dale Russell showed the pictures to former GBI agent Charles Stone, who has written a book about his role in the Olympic Park bombing investigation.  He says agents will want to identify who made the pressure cooker and where they sold it.
.
Using the crime scene pictures, we wanted to see if we could identify the manufacturer.  We could see on one evidence photo 6 L, or six liters, followed by the mark (CE) - which designates approval to sell the cooker in Europe.

Then in another picture, you can see the words: gas, electric, followed by I-N-O-X, a term for stainless steel in Europe.  Under it, there were two distinct symbols.

The I-Team looked at a 6 liter stainless steel pressure cooker made by Fagor out of Spain, but sold in America.  Each of the markings seemed to match the evidence photo of the bomb.

One source told the I-Team, "You are on the right track," when we asked about our comparison.

"The magnitude of this case, you're talking about running an investigation with unlimited resources," said Stone.

Stone says federal agents will be doing the same identification work on the black bag and steel pellets seen in the crime scene photos.

The I-Team called Fagor in America. They initially told us they would have a statement, and then didn't return our call.

Investigators will continue their hunt for the killer, and then try to tie that person or persons to the physical evidence.
