Director William Friedkin Makes A New 'Connection'

Posted: Updated:

When the Oscar winning director of "The French Connection" shot that iconic chase scene, he broke a lot of laws. That's one of the stories William Friedkin shared with Steve, Maria, and Kris Jenner Thursday morning. In his new book "The Friedkin Connection", he gives some behind the scenes dish on that movie and many others.

Friedkin talks about how he isn't the type of director who says "we used to do it better" and actually heaps praise on one very successful action franchise. Friedkin also talks about how he called one script "trash" in front of the writer and how that brutal honesty helped land him the job of directing "The Exorcist" thanks to that writer.

Fun Facts about William Friedkin:

  • Directed the movies "The French Connection" and "The Exorcist"
  • Won the Academy Award for Best Director
  • His first feature film was "Good Times" featuring Sonny and Cher
  • Directed an episode of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation"
