SKOKIE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Flooding in Skokie prompted officials to cancel all court proceedings Thursday at the north suburban courthouse.

Circuit Court of Cook County Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans canceled all court proceedings Thursday at the Skokie Courthouse at 5600 Old Orchard Road in Skokie because of flooding forced street closures in the area, according to a statement from Evans' office.

All felony, misdemeanor and traffic cases for people being held in Cook County Jail will be rescheduled to Friday, according to the statement. All similar cases for those out on bond will be rescheduled for May 21.

All civil cases will be rescheduled to April 22, the statement said.

The cases will be held in the same courtroom at the same time as scheduled Thursday.

Evans said court proceedings will continue Friday if conditions allow.
