The witness list in the George Zimmerman murder trial has grown considerably, now exceeding over 200 people.

Zimmerman, the 29-year-old former neighborhood watch volunteer, fatally shot Trayvon Martin, an unarmed 17-year-old, during an altercation in Sanford on Feb. 26, 2012.

Included on the witness list are dozens of employees at the Sanford Police Department and almost as many unidentified witnesses, who likely will testify on behalf of Zimmerman's character.  Most notable among those listed are Trayvon's parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, family attorney Benjamin Crump, and ousted Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee Jr.  The list also includes Zimmerman's mother and father, Gladys and Robert Sr.

The next hearing is scheduled for April 30, at which time attorneys hope to address evidence authorities downloaded from Zimmerman's cell phone regarding communication with his wife, Shellie.  Zimmerman's attorneys are also arguing that their client is entitled to a copy of a settlement agreement between Trayvon's parents and Zimmerman's homeowners' association.

Zimmerman is pleading not guilty to a second-degree murder charge, claiming self-defense.  The trial is scheduled for June 10 and is expected to last about two weeks.   You can read more about the witness list and the upcoming hearing at OrlandoSentinel.com.
