A tractor-trailer fire forced authorities to shut down all eastbound lanes of Interstate 285 at Riverside Drive this morning. Two lanes have since reopened, but emergency crews remain at the scene.
Thick smoke could be seen coming from the truck, which was on fire in the far right lane. All but two of the eastbound lanes were shut down, and drivers were being asked to avoid the area until the scene clears. GDOT first said they expected to have the mess cleaned up by noon, but they have since said there could be delays in the area until 5 p.m.
There's no word yet on what caused the truck to catch fire.
