The World Bank wants to learn more about a partnership between businesses and the City Colleges of Chicago.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel says a delegation from the World Bank will visit Chicago Tuesday and Wednesday to learn about the Colleges to Careers program.
Emanuel started the program in 2011. It partners colleges with corporations in six high-growth industries.
The goal is to ensure students have the skills they need to get a job and that businesses have a stable, properly trained labor market.
The World Bank delegation is exploring whether the initiative could be duplicated around the world.
Emanuel says the visit is a sign of the program's success. He says it has helped turn around a community college system that once had a reputation as one of the nation's worst.
