ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Several suspicious packages with "wires coming out" forced an evacuation of Waterford Lakes Town Center and several nearby businesses Tuesday morning, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

All four packages investigated by a bomb squad were "rendered safe," and the shopping center will reopen shortly, the Sheriff's Office said in a tweet.

One of the suspicious devices turned out to be a bag of tools near a deputy's car, Fox 35's Melissa Mahadeo reports.

At a news conference at the east Orlando shopping center on Alafaya Trail, Demings denied the packages were grenades but said they had "wires coming out."

More than 20 businesses were evacuated, including Best Buy, Ulta and a day care. The 60 children attending the day care are safe, and parents were urged to pick them up at the Regal movie theater, officials said.

Several roads are closed, and the Sheriff's Office asked people to stay away from the area during the investigation.
