NORCROSS, Ga. -

Christmas is coming early in the city of Norcross on Wednesday. The downtown area has been turned into a winter wonderland for a scene in the movie, A Friggin' Christmas Miracle.

The film stars Robin Williams, Joel McHale and Candice Bergen. It's about a dysfunctional family trying to get through the holidays. About 140 people, many of them local residents, will be used as extras as they line up at the Norcross Station Café to see Santa Claus.

Cafe owner Ken Weatherford says it's great for the city.

"I think it brings a lot of recognition to the town, sheds a light. People don't know we're here, really. I've had my restaurant here for nearly 20 years and people still say, where is downtown Norcross," said Weatherford.

The project will being in plenty of money for the local economy. Kristen McGary lives in Atlanta, and she was hired as the set decorator.

"Every single thing that you see that we have to buy or rent we have many, many, many vendors and they're all, you know...everybody is profiting from this kind really fun thing to do," said McGary.

She says she didn't have to think about accepting the job.

"You get hired by a film company, and they say would you like to set decorate a Christmas movie with Robin Williams and you say absolutely, yes," McGary said.

Officials say shops and restaurants in the area will remain open, but advise those coming they could be in the background of some of the shots in the film. Off duty officers will be in the area to help with traffic and parking.

Shooting is expected to last all day. The film is scheduled to be released later this year.
