Philadelphia Elementary School Teacher Charged With Rape

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office has charged a city elementary school teacher with rape, involuntary deviant sexual assault and other related charges.

Sumo Dukulah, 39, is a teacher at Leslie P. Hill Elementary School. Prosecutors say he allegedly raped a family member for over eight years.

According to a statement from the D.A.'s office, Dukulah began assaulting the child at the age of 8, and this continued until the child turned 16.

Detectives arrested Dukulah on April 24. His bail was set at $500,000, and his next court appearance is schedule for May 15.

Police are asking anyone with information about Dukulah to contact police at 215-685-3251, 3252 or 3253, or the District Attorney's Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit at 215-686-8080.
