CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Chicago Bears believe their 1st round draft pick Kyle Long is ready to apply unique athletic talents at 6-foot-6 1/2, 313 pounds, to the NFL.

The former Oregon player joined Lou Canellis and Hub Arkush for a live in-studio interview during FOX 32's Bears Draft Special, sponsored by Miller Lite.

"I can't say enough about how thrilled I am to be a part of this Bears organization," Long says. "Obviously, one of the most storied organizations out there. An organization that's synonymous with toughness. I'm just excited to get to work."

Long says he was with his close family and dogs when he heard the news.

"It was a moment I'll never forget," he says about being selected. "Getting that phone call and hearing my mom scream and go crazy. We're all fired up about us being part of the Bears now."

Bears' GM Phil Emery described Long as a fast, tough, dynamic, athlete, and plans to use him at guard to help solidify their porous offensive line.

"It was finding the right player, the most important player that could advance us in term of championships," Emery said of his decision. "We settled on Kyle Long as being that Bear and we're very happy to have him."

"You can tell he's a very centered individual," he adds. "That he's had great growth in his life, that he cares about other people. He's a very humble person."

In their 2nd round pick Friday night, the Bears' chose a linebacker--Florida's Jon Bostic.

"He was a very productive player at the University of Florida," Arkush explains of Bostic. "He played middle linebacker there, started the last two and a  half seasons, big hitter, didn't really make all the plays you might like, but he played all over the football field."

The NFL draft has become one of the more exciting days of the off season. It's nail-biting and euphoric for the players, teams, and fans.

In the Bears Draft Special, FOX 32 also took an exclusive look inside the draft room with Phil Emery and his crew of scouts hoping to build the Bears into a Super Bowl team.
