BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -

You'd never guess by the picture that it was only the second time Donna Scheer had seen her mother, Dianne Gill, and that 37 years had passed since she was given up for adoption.

But Donna, now with a husband and child of her own, never gave up hope.

For years, she tried finding her biological mom through snail mail and adoption registries. But one day, Donna took her search to Facebook, this time with her mother's maiden name.

"I always thought it was kind of neat that my birth certificate had 'Baby Girl Gladwin' on it so right there was a clue that I had something to go on."

When Donna finally found her mother's page, she sent her a friend request, but it wasn't easy.

It took a full year for Dianne to finally accept that request from the unfamiliar name only to discover dozens of messages from the daughter she gave up when she was only 16.

We talked to Dianne on Skype, since she now lives in Florida.

"The first thing I saw was 'Baby Girl Gladwine' and I was just so stunned, I was flabbergasted," says Dianne.

Hundreds of Facebook messages and phone calls later, Dianne flew up from Florida so the two could finally meet again.

"It was like we separated ways, we knew each other, but separated ways," Donna explained. "From the moment we started talking, after that initial shock, it was like talking to my best friend."

Her husband, John, agrees.

"I've never seen so many similarities. Her demeanor, her laugh, the crinkle in her face when she laughs, I could see it."

Facebook may have brought the two together, but these days it's Skype that helps the family stay connected until their next reunion, which will only be a few months from now.

"It was like the circle was closed, like everything in my life had come together," Dianne told FOX 29. "It's complete."
