LONGWOOD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A child is clinging to life after being run over in what police are calling an accident.

At approximately 12:40 p.m. Friday afternoon, Longwood police officers responded to a home on Freeman Street for what was initially reported as a missing child.   When officers arrived, they found a critically injured one-year-old girl in the driveway of her parent's home

Neighbors heard some of the little girl's family members screaming and ran outside.

"There's a lot of kids in this neighborhood too, so it's kind of surprising this kind of thing would happen," said neighbor Shannon Conner.   "A lot of kids especially in these few houses here.  A bunch of kids... one year olds, two year olds."

The child has been transported to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital by Longwood Fire Rescue.
