Arias trial: Closing arguments wrap-up

Posted: Updated:

The Jodi Arias trial has lasted for nearly five months. It's included everything from Jodi's emotional testimony to the graphic photos from the crime scene.

But now the most watched murder trial in the country is about to end, and the fate of Jodi Arias is now in the hands of the jury.

FOX 10's Troy Hayden, who has been in the courtroom since the trial began, was front and center for closing arguments from Jodi's defense team.

What will the jury do? How will they decide? After all this time, did they build up a relationship with Jodi, or will they quickly sentence her to death?

Let's go over how the day went. It started with lead defense attorney Kirk Nurmi giving his closing argument, telling the jury the prosecution's theory that Jodi had an elaborate plan to kill Travis just doesn't make any sense.

Then prosecutor Juan Martinez stepped for a short rebuttal. He said Travis's killing was not in any way self-defense, it was a cold blooded killing.

After the jury got the case, Troy talked to prosecutor Juan Martinez. He said he felt good about his closing argument, and when we asked him what he was going to do while the jury deliberated, he said "just hang out."

We also spoke with a member of the defense team. They said they felt they did well. They said they are hoping for the best, and that Jodi has had her good days and bad days during the trial.

Both sides of this case are now just playing the waiting game.

As for Jodi, she tweeted through a friend after the jury was read their instructions. However, she said nothing about the trial. Instead, she tweeted about her art, telling her fans some of her older drawings are now for sale.

Throughout the closing arguments, Jodi Arias was keeping a close eye on what was being said. At one point she reacted rather sarcastically when the prosecution began to describe to the jury how obsessed Jodi was with Travis.

"To demonstrate that you want an individual is you engage in sexual intercourse and that's what she did on that particular day she wanted him -- she couldn't let him go," said Martinez.

Look at Jodi's face as Juan Martinez is describing to the jury how Jodi was obsessed with Travis and "wanted" him.

Jodi gives Juan the evil eye as if to indicate she didn't want him "that" much.

In fact, there were a number of instances where Jodi reacted with a look of disbelief to something the prosecution presented the jury.
