Interstate 95 in Daytona Beach has re-opened after being closed for multiple hours due to a bad crash. The accident between a passenger truck and semi happened Saturday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95 northbound at LPGA Boulevard.
Florida Highway Patrol said the truck entered the direct path of the semi and in an effort to try to avoid the truck; the semi swerved and rolled over on its side. The truck wasn't damaged, but the semi driver ended up being trapped and had to be extracted from the vehicle by the Daytona Beach Fire Department.
There was also a large amount of fuel that spilled onto the roadway from the semi, so the Volusia County hazmat team had to plug the leak and clean up the fuel before opening the road back up.
