An argument turned deadly for a man walking down the street in Daytona Beach early Sunday morning, authorities say.
Daytona Beach Police said around 3 a.m., a man driving a small, red convertible was going westbound on Seabreeze near Oleander Avenue when a fight broke out.
Police said the driver of the convertible started arguing with some pedestrians, which led to a physical confrontation. Police said the driver of another car saw the commotion and urged the driver of the red car to move along.
Witnesses said the driver of the red convertible took off, then turned around and came back, catching up with the pedestrians in the parking lot of 444 Seabreeze. Police say the driver then gunned it, trying to run them down, and in the process everyone ran in different directions.
But after some time, police said the driver of the red convertible hit a 27-year-old man, throwing him into the air and killing him. Police say the driver then took off.
Daytona Beach police are looking for the driver of that red convertible. They think it has front-end damage.
They are asking anyone with information to call Daytona Beach Police Department. Police have not identified the victim of this crime until they contact family.
