Report: Scientists on path to possible 'cure' for gray hair

Researchers may have gotten to the root of the problem of gray hair, health website Medical Daily has reported.

A newly published study describes how scientists successfully treat patients suffering from a patchy skin problem called vitiligo, which develops in much the same way as gray hair.

In both conditions, hydrogen peroxide is thought to accumulate in hair and skin, which causes oxidative stress, the website reported.

In the study, the researchers developed a cream that returned pigment to vitiligo sufferers. They think a similar cream applied to gray hair could restore color.
