Sandy Adams for lieutenant governor?

Posted: Updated:

Sources tell FOX 35 News that former congresswoman and long time state representative Sandy Adams, of Oviedo, will emerge as a prime candidate for lieutenant governor.

Gov. Rick Scott said repeatedly after Jennifer Carroll resignedthat he would not name a new Lt. Governor until after the two month legislativesession in Tallahassee was over.  Holding a Cabinet meeting today in Lake Nonain Orlando, the Governor says he is still not ready.

"I'm going to take my time to make sure I make a good decision," said Gov. Scott.

Carroll resigned as she was probed but not charged by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in relation toInternet cafe operator Allied Veterans of the World. Gov. Scott told usabout the job description.

"It's somebody that could step into the role of governor, God forbidsomething happens to me, It's somebody that can make sure we move Floridaforward... make sure Florida is the number one place in the nationfor families to get a job."

When FOX 35 brought up the possibility of him selecting former CongresswomanAdams for the job, the governor in no way tried to dispel that notion.  Instead,he heaped praise on her.

"Congresswoman Adams is a wonderful person. There's a lot of great peoplearound the state that would be very good, but she's a wonderful person, and dida great job both here in Florida and up in DC."

We also contacted Congresswoman Adams.  She is now out of office after losing aheated primary to Rep. John Mica, R-Winter Park, in the new Congressional District 7. She told FOX 35 she has not yet heard from the governor about the position, butwould be willing to listen if he called.
