SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police in Southfield were on the scene of a shootout Thursday at the Franklin Hills Apartments off Twelve Mile near Northwestern.

It was about 5:15 a.m. when investigators said a couple guys showed up with a gun looking for a woman at an apartment. Somebody there grabbed a shotgun. It is not clear who fired first.

"I heard the gunshots, and I heard some yelling," said neighbor Kristine Murray. "[My dog] started to bark, so I made sure she stayed in the bedroom with me."

"I did hear the police tell somebody to get down. I did hear that."

A 22-year-old man from Southfield was shot in the arm and leg. He will be okay.

Police arrested a 24-year-old man from Detroit and a 24-year-old man from Southfield.

Murray stayed inside for hours concerned for her safety.

"Normally it's very quiet around here, so this was a first," she said.

Murray has lived at Franklin Hills for 30 years. Nothing like this has ever happened before, and some neighbors worry about what it means for the normally quiet and peaceful community.
