Max Gomez: Where The Pavement Ends & The Trouble Begins

Posted: Updated:

Max Gomez is a singer songwriter who is opening for Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale tonight at the Troubador. The 25 year old talked to Steve and Maria about his musical influences which includes a lot of old blues music and one singer in particular his parents used to listen to.

Max also talks about how he met one of his biggest fans, Kiefer Sutherland. When it came time to shoot the music video for max's lead single "Run From You", it was Sutherland who wanted to direct it.

Max even broke out the guitar and gave viewers a real treat: a performance of "Rule The World".

Fun facts about Max Gomez:

  • Singer and songwriter Max Gomez grew up in Taos, New Mexico, the son of a Portuguese-Spanish father and an Irish-Scottish mother.
  • He fell early under the influence of country blues, and then moved on to classic modern singer/songwriters like Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and John Prine, as well as folk-based rockers like Tom Petty and Neil Young, honing his songwriting skills.
  • Gomez released a debut album, the Jeff Trott-produced Rule the World, on New West Records early in 2013.
