More than two dozen World War II veterans from metro Atlanta took a whirlwind trip to the nation's capital on Tuesday to visit the war's memorial on the National Mall.
The group Honor Flight Conyers left for DC before daybreak and arrived back home the same night.
Volunteers and other vets greeted them at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
It was a free trip for these comrades to view their national monument.
The members of the "Greatest Generation" are growing fewer with each passing year.
