Washington Nationals plan to leave Space Coast Stadium after lease is up
VIERA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
The Washington Nationals will be moving their spring training out of Viera, Brevard County officials confirmed with FOX 35 on Tuesday.
The Major League Baseball franchise has opted not to renew their lease at Space Coast Stadium. There are two more seasons remaining on the lease. The Nationals are working on a deal with Osceola County, which is promising to build a new stadium for them in the Kissimmee area. This new stadium is rumored to accommodate two ball teams.
Brevard County officials say they will explore different options to replace the Nationals, including luring another major league team or a second minor league team to the stadium.
