ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was injured Thursday night when his patrol car, stopped on the shoulder of State Road 417, was struck by a pickup, the FHP said.
The driver of the pickup was later arrested on an active warrant from Osceola County, it said.
At about 6:15 p.m., Trooper Grady Lee, 57, of Orlando was sitting in his stopped patrol car on the shoulder of southbound S.R. 417 near Moss Park.
Witnesses told the FHP that a pickup driven by Jonathan Reyes-Roman, 35, of Orlando was driving southbound on S.R. 417 erratically just before it struck the right side of Lee's cruiser. Reyes-Roman's pickup overturned, and Lee was trapped in his patrol car for 45 minutes, according to troopers.
Both Reyes-Roman and Lee were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Lee was treated and released. Reyes-Roman was later booked into the Orange County Jail, and multiple charges are pending.
