Trader Joe's at forefront of Central Florida retail development

Posted: Updated:
WINTER PARK, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

At the corner of Morse Boulevard and U.S. 17-92 sits a long underused Central Florida retail location -- but it's about to see some sprucing up.

President of Unicorp National Developments Inc. Chuck Whittall told FOX35 that Winter Park will soon have its own Trader Joe's, a specialty grocery store chain whose stores are mainly out West and in the Northeast.

Several restaurants and a paddle boarding company will accompany the much anticipated store.

Developers are hoping Trader Joe's will make its debut in a little more than a year. But Whittall said that's not all that is being built.

"Central Florida is just on fire now," Whittall said.

A similar but smaller center is also being built in the Sand Lake Road area. There is no word yet on if that will also have a Trader Joe's.
