A woman was struck and killed Thursday night as she tried to cross Orange Blossom Trail in Orange County, troopers said.

The woman, from Zellwood, tried to cross the four-lane highway near Winifred Avenue but stepped into the direct path of a 1996 Dodge Ram, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The driver of the Dodge, David Allan Wall, 59, of Apopka, tried to swerve, but the front right of his truck struck the woman. Wall was not injured, the FHP said.

The woman has not been identified pending notification to her family. The crash remains under investigation.
