An Ocala man died when a tree fell on his car which was parked in his own driveway during a severe thunderstorm late Monday afternoon. It happened around 4:20 p.m. at a home located at 2317 NE 10th Ct.
Police said Christopher Harris, 27, was sitting in a black Mitsubishi 4-door, when a tree came crashing down on his car and an unoccupied vehicle. A police spokesman had earlier identified the victim as a 20-year-old man.
Neighbor Michael Powell lives nearby and described the storm as intense.
"It was blowing pretty bad... raining pretty hard," he said. "It's shocking that something like this would happen, especially this close to the house. It just shows you anything can happen at any time."
The body of Harris was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office.
