Man carjacked, stuffed in trunk

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police on Long Island are searching for five men who carried out a violent car jacking early Thursday morning.

Nassau County police say it started at a traffic light on N. Long Beach Ave. in Freeport.

A 35-year-old man was behind the wheel of his Mercedes at 3:50 a.m. when he was approached by three men with guns.

Police say they pulled him out of the car as two more armed suspects approached. One of the attackers hit the victim in the head with a gun, causing a laceration.

They robbed the man and then threw him in the trunk before driving around.  Police say a short time later they pulled him from the trunk and bound his hands and feet with black duct tape and taped his mouth shut.  They then dumped him in the back yard of a house on Jefferson Ave. in Lakeview.

The victim was able to get himself free and walked to a friend's home.  He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police described the suspects as black men between the ages of 18-20 years old wearing hooded sweatshirts.  No further description was available.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  Police say that all callers will remain anonymous.
