LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -

A tractor-trailer crashed into a business in Lawrenceville on Wednesday morning, and the driver of the truck was killed. Amazingly, no one else was hurt.

Authorities say it happened around 10:15 a.m. at the Essex Plaza center, located at 1195 Scenic Highway.  They say the driver lost control of his truck and managed to cross the median on Scenic Drive and barrel through the parking lot without hitting anyone.

Witnesses told FOX 5 they were thankful that with so many people around, no one else was injured.  No one was inside The Hair Parlor-- where the truck landed--- or the O Wings restaurant next door.  But just feet away, 22 young campers were taking a karate class.  Their instructor told FOX 5 he saw the truck fly by, but by the time he ran outside, it had already crashed.

The driver was identified as 66-year-old Donald Samples of Snellville. There's no word yet on what caused him to lose control. Officials said that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.

The crash remains under investigation, and authorities say they are concerned about the stability of the building following the impact.  An engineer will inspect the building on Thursday morning to determine when the business can reopen.
