ATLANTA -

It's finally Friday -- and folks in North Georgia certainly dodged a bullet when it comes to Tropical Storm Andrea.  While rain fell overnight in SE Georgia (and into middle Georgia), the rest of us saw very little impact at all.

The storm will continue pushing up along the east coast, dropping rain and bringing the chance for severe weather to coastal community through the rest of the day and into the weekend.

Here, our attention shifts to a front that will be pushing across the region, bringing a chance for some showers/storms this afternoon and into the overnight hours.

Highs Friday will top out in the lower 80s. Tonight, we'll see temperatures fall into the middle 60s.  Again, look for a chance of storms later today and into then overnight hours.  Some of these storms could drop some localized heavy rain -- so please note that concerns over fast-rising waters in some areas are not over.

The good news -- those storms won't last long.  Conditions over the weekend look quite pleasant and summer-like, with highs back in the middle-to-upper 80s and partly cloudy skies.

Enjoy your Friday -- and continue to track the progress of Andrea right here on Fox 5 as she makes way up the coast.

By Friday, while the remnants of the storm should be well to the north and northeast, the more storms are possible from a cold front approaching from the west. Those storms could dump another .5 to 1 inch of rain.
